How do you get an xbox 360 wireless controller to connect to the xbox 360?

-When my friend brings his controllers to my house we sometimes can't get the controller to connect to my xbox 360, and vise versa.

1. to get the controller to connect just hit the little white button on the back of the controller... it should automatically link up
2. first turn your 360 on, then your controller then press the connect button on the controller ( i'll assume you know where that is) then the connect button on your 360, its to the right of the memory card slot and has a ))) symbol next to it.
