Why are some xbox 360 games 60 dollars and others are less?

Well, my question is pretty straightforward. Some xbox 360 games are 60 dollars, such as halo 3 or gears of war, and others are 50 dollars, like call of duty 3. Why is there a price difference?

  1. Usually it's because of how long they've been out. After games have been released for a while, sales go down. To increase sales for the game, they lower the price. Some games from the launch of the 360 are down to $20. Also, some games are arcade games that are usually between $5-20. If a xbox 360 game is $50 on the release date, most likely it's just a decision by the publisher.
  2. 1) The less popular a game is likely to be, the less they'll charge for it--the law of supply and demand--if they know you want it badly, they know they can charge more for it and you'll still pay it. 2) The more complex a game is, the more programming had to go into it, and the more money the company had to shell out to its employees to get the game on the shelves--consequently, they will have to charge more for the game to recoup their R&D (research & development) expenses.
  3. the games that are cheaper are either older or barely nobody wants them. so to make people buy them, they dropped the price because no one would pay like $60 for madden 02 if they can get madden 08 for the same exact price. and no one would pay $60 for halo 1 or 2 if they can get halo 3 for teh same price. you see what I mean?
  4. Higher quality games made by bigger publishers are usualy 60$ on launch. Plus they know they can realy jack up the price on games that you have to get IE halo 3. Smaller publishers or low budget games can come out anyware from 50 to 20$. some examples are Tabel Tenis or Fusion Frenzy. Finaly games that have been out for a while can be very cheap. Madden 06 or King Kong. If you are trying to find a good game for low amounts of money, i would recomend chromehounds or Battlefeild if you have Live. Oblivion or PGR3 if you dont have Live.
