Playstation 3?

Im debating on getting a Playstation 3 for my birthday. I currently own a Playstation 2 and i have owned it since october 2002 and it still works pretty well besides for occasional lag. I typicially buy the newest madden every 2 years and the latest one i have is 2008 and i want to get 2009. I want to get Playstation 3 because i think GTA IV looks amazing and i also think its time for an upgrade. The downside is that PS3 games cost $60 and PS2 games cost $30, but the only games made for PS2 now are the sports franchises. I have played madden on both PS2 and PS3 and honestly i like the gameplay on PS2 better but the feature on PS3 are better. Does anyone think that it would be worth it to get a PS3?

  1. PS3 = Crap Crap Crap! Xbox 360 = Amazing but without Xbox Live it is Boring Nintendo Wii = Fun but not fun when you play by yourself... I had a ps3 and sold it right away. Its just so boring, crap and nothing to do on it. The online service sucks.
  2. Don't listen to that guy, the Ps3 is the best videogame station I have ever had. When you compare the systems and are worried about price, it comes out to be a better deal for the ps3 When comparing the better systems of each, these are the ps3 advantages: (aka, ps3 has more things included for only $200 more -40 more gigabytes on hard disk drive -100% backwords compatibility with ps2 and ps1 games -Built-in WiFi card ($100 add-on to xbox 360 premium) -Built in hi-def movie player = blu-ray ($149 HD-DVD drive add on to xbox) -HDMI Output (xbox cant achive hightest res: 1080p) -Memory Stick reader (...xbox cant do that, period) - No need to pay $$$ for online gaming, friends, messages, all that is free on ps3 (monthly fee for xbox live) -PS3 discs (blu-ray) can hold 50GB of data (more resolution and more depth and story and niceness of games) where as xbox 360 games are the normal 8GB dvds (pitiful) -Hook up to the psp to add more features in future games, such as a second screen for a map or something like you saw on the Nintendo DS All in all, it's definately worth it to buy a Ps3, plus, so many more games will be released soon that will top the 360 :P
  3. if you wait till june, you can trade your ps2 in, get an 80 gig(listed at 499.99) at about35-45.00 off. and still be able to play your fave PS2 and PS1 titles, while moving into the new millenia, so to speak. the reason PS3 games are so expensive is because of the blu-ray, and the development used to create the games. but you'll also get a full web browser, wireless connectivity out of the box. a wireless, motion sensitive controller. tons of downloadable content. its worth every penny, especially if you're looking to move to an hd tv. if you want to hold on to your ps2, then a 40 gig will cost you 399.99. but my recommendation is to get the 80.
  4. I agree with Shiraz. Get an Xbox 360. Better games (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Halo 3, Project Gotham4, Blue Dragon, Gears of War, Saints Row-a gta clone, Plus extra GTA4 episode content only for the 360 come the summer.Plus a lot of the same games on both consoles) Online is better although you do pay but not much. £40 per year. Downloadable movies and new XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) games each week. Cheaper too. Also you don't need to download your game onto the console before you can play it.
  5. Yes the PS3 is really great and it would last longer and has longer time play! also the PS3 has so many Features that 360 can only wish in putting into the 360 console, like the Blu- ray player ( everything is going Blu-ray, have you noticed!, i dont think they sell HD-dvd) so Microsoft lost money into making the HD Players....also PS3 offers Wifi and Xbox sells it for about 100 dollars which is making the 360 very expensive to buy if you want to get all the qualities the PS3 offers also did you you that your PS3 will have a Life span of 10 years..... if not even More..... well its true and sony also stated that there Console(PS3) failure rate is less then 1% thats a way smaller difference then Microsoft's 33% failure rate.....Game wise... ehh so far I'd say the 360 is winning thus they have really good games but that is all going to change in late 2008- early 2009..... and PS3 controller.... Rumber and motion sensing? that is AWSOME ..... now does the 360 offer that? nope i didnt think so... which is also a really good reason why buying the PS3 now for the 360.....what can we compliment on the 360? well ..... um.....lets see..... Its white... yea and good games ...... . . . . . .. and um..... good graphics.... yea..... its black yea....and thats all i can really say that i like the 360 for.....
  6. yeah, you should get one. The ps3 has plenty of excellent games and is the next-gen console with the brightest future, the other is less powerful and its hardware potential has been fully maxed out. Whether to get an 80gig though is a tough call. If your ps2 still works, you don't need to worry about the backward compatibility. It would be better to keep the ps2 and get the 40, than to sell it and get the 80. You'd save money. Most BD games are expensive, but you can get them cheaper used. One of the best games, Warhawk, is on sale for $30 right now for download. There's a lot of other cheap downloadable games. High Velocity Bowling, Pain, Tekken 5,... the ps3 online very rarely lags noticeably. On Warhawk people from both sides of the Atlantic can play on the same servers, with pings up to 250, with no problems at all. Not to mention the blu-ray player, the motion sensors, the web browser, the hard drive, and the playstation network. It's always worth it, if you have the money.
  7. alot of the games that are starting to come out are only for either the 360, ps3 or wii so yea u shud get the ps3 because eventually theyre not gonna sell games for the ps2 anymore. u can play ps2 games on the ps3 also( unless u get the 40GB)but i def think it wud be worth it 2 get a ps3
  8. yes it is i have a 40 gb ps3 best thing to invest money on its awsome i love my ps3 and its fun and dont listen to the guy above problably a fanboy
  9. if your looking for a game system to play sports games i have to say 360 really is better. i own a PS3 but 360 has a much better madden running in at 60 frames per second. the PS3 version has it ruining at 30 its up to you the gameplay is pretty much the same if you love the ps2 controller you will love the ps3 controller. Theres less lag if your planning to go online. an much better sports games. Nba 08 MLB the show Nba live 2008 Madden 08 NFL 2k8 pretty much every sports game ps3 has but some of them are better on the xbox version.
  10. If you love to play PS2 games but want a PS3 (I have one, 80G) you can buy a PS3 and if you get a 60g or 80g you can play PS2 games on PS3. Plus you can play free online!
