is the 60GB playstation 3 capatible with playstation 2 games? i know the 40GB is not and the 80GB is...but is the 60GB? how much does the 60GB cost?

- Yes the 60 gig can play ps2 games, not the 40 and 80 as you mentioned.
- Yes it does. It plays ps1 & ps2 games beautifully.
- The 60gb is backward compatible with more games than the 80gb version (bc they use a different means of backward compatibility); however, I have noticed that most ps2 games play really poorly on the ps3. If you go to Sony's website they have a list of all the games that have been verified to be backward compatible, and you can actually search by console (for example you can search all games that are compatible with just the 80gb model). The 60gb is no longer in production, but you can usually find them for a pretty good price on craigslist or ebay. I have seen them as low at $350 and as high as $500.
