What router speed would be good for the nintendo wii?

I'm also getting a router for my computers but more importantly a router with good speed compatible for the nintendo wii also.

  1. I would get just a standard Rangebooster G Router. It woul be just fine for the wii. Also, don't get the N kind because it is not compatible with most computers and it is not compatible with the Wii.
  2. I'm not sure which router speed I use. I know my computer has a speed of 100Mbps, but after you hook your wii up to the internet, change the routers channel to 1 or 11. It works so much faster than the default channel which is 6. I kept getting error messages until my dad switched it.
  3. The nintendo wii would probably be ok with any router as long as it's compatible. The speed of your boradband would probably be what you more want to think about although they're all at high speeds nowadays. Scott
  4. The Nintendo Wii is compatible with majority of routers but there are some things you will want to keep in mind when looking for a particular one. The Wii is only compatible with 802.11b or 802.11g. The Wii is not compatible with the newer 802.11n so if you were to get a N router you would have to change the setting to make it broadcast in b/g mode. As for security modes the Wii is compatible with both WEP and WPA security so there is no worries there. It is possible that you might have to disable any SPI firewalls that are on the router as they might cause issues with getting connected. If you have a specific router in mind then you should check the website listed in sources as it will provide a list of routers that have been tested and are found to be incompatible. I personally would recommend a Linksys brand router (model number WRT54G for example) I have had very good success with Linksys routers and so have others that I've talked to. If you have any additional questions or need assistance you can call the Nintendo Consumer Service Line Phone Number: 1-800-255-3700 The representative that you talk to will be able to answer any questions and help with what you need.
