Sony PSP (China VS USA)?
I am in china now... I can get the Sony PSP cheaper here than in the US. Does anyone know if, will the Sony PSP that I buy in china will it be compatible with the games in The United States...

- A chinese PSP is going to have a different region code than an American one, so unfortunately, you probably cannot play American games on a chinese PSP
- No
- I will first start off by saying that the previous two entries are most likely correct, but I have also heard some reports that even if you do have a PSP from China/Japan/etc and want to play American games... then you CAN... HOWEVER, any, and I stress ANY UMD movie that you purchase here in the States will not play on that PSP. Only the UMD movies on PSP are region coded, just like normal DVD's. Games (supposedly) are NOT. Though I am pressed for time, I cannot find out if this is 100% true, nor can I add a link to a respected site, but hopefully I can find an answer to your question.
- USA USA USA USA USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- All psps games a region free, meaning you can play any game from any region on any psp, BUT umd movies are region coded.
- Most cities have electronics markets where they make these machines region free. This will probably void your warranty too. Ask some local friends to point you in the right direction.
- I bought 2 PSP (one white 2.5 and one black 1.5) in Hong Kong...brought it to the States...and my friend bought games for the 2.5..it works fine. i bought a umd movie and put it into the 1.5, it also works. i have also heard that umd movies doesnt work on overseas products, but i have only tried 1 movie which i got at the flee market...i was able to test the movie before buying it. since it worked i bought it. ps go for the 1.5 firmware
