Getting a Playstation 3 soon but which one should I get?

I was just wondering what kind of playstation 3 system should I get because I am planning getting one for a my best friend this winter. It been awhile for me since I'd played the Sony Playstation gaming system. I want too know which version is best one to get? 10 points who ever give me the best answer. Thanks you in advance.

  1. The 40 gb ps3 is if you dont have any relations with other ps systems. Also if you are not one to download a lot. The 80 gb is if your friend has ps2 games and downloads lots of demos...etc.
  2. Well, if you're a fan of the MGS (Metal Gear Solid) series, then I'd go with the PS3 80gb bundle. It's a pretty good deal AND the 60gb and 80gb have backwards compatibility (meaning it plays Playstation 1 and 2 games) which is pretty tight! However, the 40gb PS3 is cool too, but it can't play PS1 and PS2 games and only has two USB ports on the back instead of four. Your pick!
  3. 20GB = Good but not alot a memorie 40GB = Good but not Backwards compatiable 60GB = Super Good (GET THIS ONE) 80GB = Really Good but cost alot of money
  4. when you buy, take in mind, 60 and 80g have a nack of breaking down and if you plan on playing 6+ hours straight, i reccommend the 40g system.
  5. well hey cory look this fall theres going to be a 80 gig ps3 but its the same one as the 40 gig ps3 there just going add 40 more gigs.and theres a limited edition 80 gig but that comes out with 4 usb ports, back foward ultilty which means you can play ps2 games, and a chrome finish the 40 gigabyte ps3 dose not have those 3 major things. limited 80 gig ps3 with backfoward ultily, chrome finish, usb ports which means you can play up to 4 players and card reader and a sixaxis controller $499with tax $536 40 gig ps3 with this fall it will upgrade with 80 gigs which will be $399 with tax$436 no backfoward utilty 2 usb ports no chrome finsh, and no card reader and a dual shock controller sixaxis means you can play videogames like the wii or just play them with the buttons looks the same as the dualshock the dual shock controller you cant play video games like the wii thats the only difference i got the metal gear solid 4 bundle lik 4 weeks ago the limited editon ps3. the next limited editon will come out around christmas..
  6. If your planning on your friend having a great game experience i would go with the 80gb thats what i have its worth it lots more accessories and ps2,ps1 games enabled and built in memory for all 3 systems and also comes with the sixaxis controller which is kinda like a wii controller but can be turned on and off i think thats your best choice PS. and they dont break down after six hours of straight play I've done atleast 8or 9 and nothing happened
  7. Sony just revealed the 80gb core pack at E3 today which is the same as the 40gb only double the memory for the same price of $399. This ps3 pack is not backward compatible just like the now 40gb, so it only plays PS3 games and not PS2 games. I'm sure they will have some newer, bigger value pack by the holiday season. Also, if you friend has a HDTV you should pick up some HDMI cables for high definition or else you need to use the standard AV cables.
  8. Sony just announced today that they will release an 80GB PS3 for the same price as the current 40GB. This means there will be two different 80GB models on the market. For $399 you will be able to get an 80GB HDD with 2 USB ports, no media card readers and no PS2 compatibility. The model selling for $499 will have an 80GB HDD, but will also have 4 USB ports, media slots for compact flash, SD, mini SD, memory stick pro and pro duo, and will have about 90% PS2 backwards compatibility. Both models will have complete PSone compatibility, so it basically comes down to wether or not you want to play PS2 games and use the memory cards without buying an extra adapter. Once the new 80GB version comes out (or just before it does) you may be able to find a 40GB on clearance. It will have the same functionality as the $399 80GB version, just half the hard drive space, and you can always replace the hard drive with a bigger one. I just put in a 250GB HDD in my formerly 60GB PS3.
  9. Go on ebay and buy the 60gb ps3 full backwards compatibilty their are some 60gbs for 209 dollars thats were im getting my ps3 becuase 400-500 isnt worth it on a video game console. Only if sony was smart like microsoft and reduced the price of their system
  10. 40gbs are the best
  11. from my personal experience, i have a the ps3 with 60Gb(pal), its from Germany, it works with all kinds of formats:DVDs, all types of ps3 games even i got unoriginal DVDs they work on it, my cousin she have a ps3 but it is NTSC, she is suffering from different types of error with ps3 games and DVDs, to sum up, i advice u to buy from Europe(pal) to be in safe side with playing different formats i hope this will help
  12. Go with the 80GB, most features, and backwards compatability up to 80% of PS2 games. Dark Games Master - 40GB DOES play PSOne games. Get it right if you are going to comment.
