Nintendo Wii?

Anyone out there have a nintendo Wii? I recently have come into one, and before I open it and give it as a late X-mas gift, I need to know if anyone else out there has one, and what are the problems/bugs it might have? So far I have heard the biggest problem is that it overheats. Apparently A friend's Wii over heated to the point the bottom melted, however it still works...anyone out there have a Wii and any problems with it? I don't want to give this gift just to have it overheat and break. Yes it has the warranty, but I"m sure we all know how fast "big companies" help people who have problems with their products. Otherwise I'm going to take it back, as long as it's not an opened box, I can get a 100% refund. Thanks all! Thank you all so very much, I feel that you ALL HAVE the best answer, but i don't know how to put it up for a vote! Thank you all for answering my question!

  3. no i haven't heard any problems with it. it seems great to me.
  4. umm no other problems and it only over heats if it not in an open space but it wont melt the bottom it will probably just make your game crash
  5. It dosn't overheat at all. It's never even cold. It is a great console and your friend will love it.
  6. Dont worry Im sure it doesnt melt. Hell, my Xbox 360 used to overheat all the time and it never melted. Nah I think you Wii will be fine so dont worry about it.
  7. no bugs, or problems I've encountered yet. I haven't heard of any overheating problems before. And i read from some where that Nintendo's customer service is really fast if there is a problem.
  8. Overheating? you sure if didnt have to do with where your friend had put it cause thats not a major defect depending on when you got the wii it will have this defect in the "wiimote" (controller) it has a wrist strap that you put on while you play however the defect is that the wrist strap will break very easily and the controller could come flying out of your hands and into your TV Wii etc. since you said you got it recently it shouldnt have this defect but just in case tell whoever you give it to, to be carefull with it P.S congrats on getting a wii ive been searching EVERYWHERE for one
  9. I got my Nintendo Wii at midnight on the day of it's launch. I've had it on for hours at a time, and have had no overheating problems. As long as you place the system in a well ventilated area, you'll be fine. If you place it in a small, stuffy area, the system may have problems. That goes for anything, proper care ensures a long product life. As for the major problems, I've only heard of two. Strap problems and a problem in connecting to the internet. For the strap issue, some people have had problems with the straps breaking and the handheld controllers flying across the room. Some people have even thrown the things into their TVs. Nintendo has issued a recall in light of this. You can go to their site and order up to 4 replacement straps at no cost. For the internet issue, some owners have encountered an error where the Wii will no longer be able to connect to the internet after getting a required update. They get error code 110213. Nintendo discovered this and has responded. They will send you a replacement system for free, just call 1-800-895-1672 to have one ordered. And they have been doing quite well in all other aspects. Good phone support, great forums for discussion, and plenty of updates to make the Wii an excellent little system.

  11. Go to this site type in your Zip Code, and it'll tell you what stores in your area are getting the Wii and approx when
