Nintendo Wii?
My son is saving his money for a Wii. Does anyone no when Nintendo plans on coming out with their next Nintendo system. It seems like whenever he buys the new system they come out with a newer one right away.

- the new system wii is the most current. It would be to big a risk to make another one this early.
- It should be a good few years before Nintendo comes out with another console system. I think he's safe this time. :) There are many great games coming out shortly for the Wii - hope he has fun!
- it should be quite a few years until they make a new one because they waited several years to make the wii after the gamecube. although they did make the wii only two years after the D.S. it still was a whole 2 years...

- No so far ther have been no plans for a new game system. I don't see how your son could have gotten the last game system right before the wii came out. Because if you're talking about how you got a gamecube well, it came out November 18, 2001 about and the Wii came November 19, 2006. Anyway it will probably be another 5 years and 1 day before another system comes out. But did you know they started making the Wii right after they released the gamecube. It was called project revolution but the changed it to Wii for promotional reasons.Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii. And thats it. But as to what the other person said, A Nintendo spokesperson has announced that the company plans to release a version of the console with DVD-Video playback capabilities in 2007. Even though software will be used to enable DVD-Video functionality, it "requires more than a firmware upgrade" and cannot therefore be implemented through the WiiConnect24 network. So that means everyone who has one and wants this will have to come up with money and buy another or sell their current one, save all the game data they can, and hope they didn't do something dumb. Me, well i already have a DVD player, movies on demand, and iTunes for my computer so I don't see the point of me buying another. Because, as I sure you all know its really hard to down a Wii, but mabey with the new one out people will go for it while other people can get the older version.
- I believe Nintendo may be making a slightly updated version next year, but all it really is is a different color, and it can play DVD's.
